VINCENT JIA is a playwright/screenwriter/director/creative producer/actor who creates for gen Z, immigrant, and queer audiences. Previously, Vincent created and starred in SHOWSTOPPER, a solo dark comedy at the 2026 Toronto Fringe Festival. He holds a BFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch.
Vincent identifies as transgender, neurodivergent, and a first gen Chinese-Canadian. These aspects of himself inform his narrative style, which is often strangely surreal, and his comedic voice tends towards deadpan and dire.
His stories are usually about LGBTQ+ people of colour and their pursuits of freedom, respect, or vengeance. This commonly means dysfunctional families, extraordinary people in ordinary circumstances, and anti-heroic protagonists.
Vincent's film/television scripts have been workshopped at TIFF Next Wave, Sundance Institute Collab, and Center for Cultural Power. outside stories, vincent likes to meditate, make tea, and try out new hobbies.
ARISTOTLE ZHANG is an independent screen and theatre production studio dedicated to delivering original storytelling by and for queer & transgender immigrants of colour and/or disability, with a focus on scripted, character-driven comedic and dramatic narrative projects. Founded in NYC in 2025 by emerging writer-creator Vincent Jia, the collective specializes in surreal genre media and intimate dramas that aim to foster connection between our universal human experiences. Aristotle Zhang has successfully produced two episodic proof-of-concept shorts and is currently developing its first animated feature.
